The accommodation for the Surfcamp/ Kitecamp is situated in the Design/Surf Hostel .

It is an amazing place to be where you can make lots of new friends and have a great time surfing and relaxing in a family environment.

The Hostel is Themed about the Oporto City, and here you can find rooms each one about a different part of the City. The interior of the room is decorated about the points of interest, such as: Serralves Foundation, Casa da Música, City Park, Casa da Animação, São Bento Station, Majestic Café, Ardina, ...

You can relax after a nice surf, listening to some music in the pleasant garden or even in their rooms.

It’s really important for beginners to learn how to surf with an excellent combination of great waves and fantastic beaches with the dynamic yet traditional urban life of Oporto and Matosinhos.

Oporto Surf School is for young and adult people who want to learn or develop their surfing techniques as a sport, culture and life-style.

Surf Spot Matosinhos Beach ; 2 Km from the Camp

Matosinhos is located north west of Oporto looking out onto the Atlantica Ocean. It houses the biggest artifical port in Portugal and has long been associated both with fishing and sea tranport industries. Today, Matosinhos is geared towards tourism and its beach is regularly used throughout the year by surfers of all types and abilities.

The winds often come from the north along this stretch of the coast and can be gusty. A good wind direction for this spot is south west, west or northwest and a good swell direction is east or northeast. This beach is a sand bar with frequent sloppy waves. The swell size starts working at 1 meter and holds up to 2.5 meters. The waves come from right and left with a normal power. The summer winds are often from the south and not as strong as the north winds. The summers are pleasant here with water temperatures ranging from 12 degrees to about 19 degrees in the summer and air temperatures ranging from 10 degrees in the winter to 30 degrees in the summer. You can get by with just a pair of shorts or a shorty through the summer, but come the winter months and you will need to suit up accordingly.

Surf Spot Aterro Beach ; 10 min from the Camp

Situated on Portugal's north western coast in the region of Oporto lies the beach at Aterro. It is a popular spot for surfers and kite surfers of expert ability only. You really have to know what you are doing here because there are numerous hazards, such as large rocks in the water, strong currents and some pretty large waves.

The wind is mainly thermal during the summer and the predominant directions are north and north northeast. The winds here can get pretty strong and 25-35 knots are not uncommon. During the winter months it can become very gusty. The water quality is clean and conditions are choppy to wavy most of the time. However you can pick up some of the largest waves around (well over 3 meters) at this spot. The water temperature remains between 12-20 degrees depending upon the time of year. You will need a long suit during the winter months.

Surf Spot Leça Beach ; 8 min from the Camp

With strong waves breaking onto vast expanses of gorgeous white sand, Leca De Palmeira is a popular venue for experienced surfers of all types, especially towards its northern part where it merges with Aterro beach.

As with most of this coastline the winds come predominantly from the north (Nortada) and are fairly consistent throughout most of the year. The summer sometimes sees a south wind which is much lighter. The water quality is clean with good, medium sized waves for most of the time. You need to have your wits about you and keep any eye out for the rocks to the north as well as the mole to the south. The water temperature ranges from 12 degrees in the winter to 19 degrees in the summer with air temperatures ranging from 10 degrees in the winter to 30 degrees n the summer.

If you are interested in having Surf lessons and staying at our surf camp, we have at your disposal everything you need – teacher´s accredited by the Portuguese Surf Federation, wetsuits, boards and a van that will take you to the best surf spots.

The lessons are, at least, one and a half hour long, tutored by a professional monitor, who will give you all the instructions you need to start surfing. You can learn how to surf with our introductory course or take your surfing to the next level and book one of our multi-day courses.

Every participant is wholly responsible for his/her insurance (health – travel). Alterations to planned Doings I may happen, that due to, for example, bad weather etc. , that we change our programm.In which case we are not to be held responsible. Journey to – and from – at your own responsibillity and cost. Check also your requirement regarding visa, customs, money, health etc. All the baggage you are alone responsible for.If you misbehave or don't do as the campleader suggest, you may be checked out.(No refund of costs incurred until then.) You may also be asked to pay for the damage etc.
