The Hawaiian natives were the inventors of surfing, therefore it is more than deserved to count as the most popular surf Mecca in the world, even among non-surfers. The warm trade winds, moderate temperatures and a sunny blue sky make Hawaii a perfect year-round vacation spot. Because of the drastic variation in altitude, Hawaii has 11 of the 13 worldwide climats. On every island you can find, dessert, tropical rainforest, moderate climate and tundra – a great climatic variety. Be prepared for cold temperatures when you plan to explore the mountains or volcanoes, as it gets colder the higher you get. On the Big Island, for example, it’s possible to get a sun tan at the beach and swim in the sea in the morning and afterwards you can walk in the snow on the mountain Mauna Kea. Generally surfers can find ideal surfing conditions during the year. Extreme crests of waves, however, only during the winter months November till February at the north coasts of the archipelago. The waves at the south coasts are more moderate. For beginners the beaches and waves of Waikiki, with its long and not too high waves, offer ideal conditions. The freaks and aces are at the north coast of Oahu, where you can find the most popular beaches, which stir the blood of every real surfer.
